The 840 Advanced Fuel Cell Test System is a fully integrated, turn-key test station designed for short stacks and large area single cell testing. It features a 1 kW test station in an integrated bench-top unit, offering advanced capabilities for precise and reliable fuel cell testing. The system includes an 890 Electronic Load with variable power outputs (125 W, 500 W, or 1 kW), an 892 Data Acquisition Module for 16 channels of voltage/temperature measurement, dual Anode & Cathode mass flow controllers for enhanced accuracy, gas selector valves for automated switching between up to 3 Anode and 3 Cathode gases, and an automated humidifier by-pass for wet/dry cycling. It also includes large capacity Anode & Cathode SS humidifiers with automatic water fill, flexible SS temperature-controlled heated gas transfer lines, and FuelCell software for user-friendly operation and experimentation. The system supports constant or stoichiometric-controlled reactant flow, real-time cell resistance and IR-free voltage measurement via Current Interrupt, and whole cell voltage plus two high-impedance reference inputs for half-cell data. Safety features include automatic hardware shutdown for alarm conditions, ensuring safe and reliable operation.

  • Reference electrode inputs for half-cell diagnostics.
  • Automated safety monitoring with shutdown and purge on alarm conditions.
Scribner, LLC Scribner, LLC is a U.S. electrochemical instrumentation company based in North Carolina and known for test systems, measurement electronics and analysis software used by academic, government and industrial research laboratories. The company developed from electrochemical research expertise and has built a portfolio around fuel cells, electrolyzers, batteries, redox-flow cells, membrane testing, impedance spectroscopy and corrosion research. Hydrogen is central to several of its product families: Scribner manufactures fuel-cell test stations for PEM and related cell chemistries and electrolyzer test systems for detailed characterization of single cells and small stacks. Its equipment can integrate power supplies, electronic loads, potentiostats, impedance analysis, gas and water management, product-flow measurement and crossover monitoring, allowing developers to study efficiency, degradation and operating limits under controlled conditions. Within the hydrogen value chain, Scribner is therefore an R&D and validation equipment supplier supporting membrane, catalyst, MEA, stack and electrolyzer developers that require precise electrochemical testing rather than a producer of commercial hydrogen systems.
