The ExDetector SC-220 is a gas detection and warning system designed for use in hazardous areas. It detects combustible gases and vapours, measures gas concentration, and provides warning signals. It features a semiconductor gas sensor, a linear measurement signal (4-20 mA), and integral switched outputs for alarms and error signals. It is suitable for Zone 2 explosion hazard areas and can be programmed for standalone operation or as a transmitter CL for integration with alarm controllers. The system operates by using a semiconductor sensor with an integral heating coil, which ensures a constant operating temperature. Combustible gases reach the sensor surface by diffusion and influence its electrical conductivity, which is then converted into a 4-20 mA measurement signal. The device is available in different sensor variants (Type M, P, S) for detecting specific gases and can be calibrated using an optional manual control unit. It is designed for wall-mounting and offers a range of technical specifications, including a response time of typically less than 30 seconds, a temperature range of -20°C to +55°C, and a humidity range of 20% to 90% relative humidity.
