The BT-112 / BT-115 Conductivity Cells are used to obtain in-plane ionic conductivity data on bare ionomer membrane samples using common single cell hardware. They offer a true 4-electrode technique to measure resistance due only to charge transport, excluding interfacial and charge transfer resistances. This allows for accurate assessment of in-plane membrane conductivity. The cells are compatible with various test fixtures and include a high temperature option up to 200 ºC. They save valuable time and money by analyzing ionomer charge transport resistance prior to catalyzation of the membrane and assembly of the MEA into a fuel cell.

Use Cases

  • Determining in-plane ionic conductivity of ionomer membranes.
  • Evaluating ion charge transport resistance before membrane catalyzation and MEA assembly.

Capabilities

  • Accurate membrane conductivity measurement using a 4-electrode method.
  • Measures charge transport resistance while excluding interfacial and charge-transfer resistances.
  • Compatible with multiple fuel-cell test fixtures and single-cell hardware.
  • Supports high-temperature conductivity testing up to 200 °C.
Scribner, LLC Scribner, LLC is a U.S. electrochemical instrumentation company based in North Carolina and known for test systems, measurement electronics and analysis software used by academic, government and industrial research laboratories. The company developed from electrochemical research expertise and has built a portfolio around fuel cells, electrolyzers, batteries, redox-flow cells, membrane testing, impedance spectroscopy and corrosion research. Hydrogen is central to several of its product families: Scribner manufactures fuel-cell test stations for PEM and related cell chemistries and electrolyzer test systems for detailed characterization of single cells and small stacks. Its equipment can integrate power supplies, electronic loads, potentiostats, impedance analysis, gas and water management, product-flow measurement and crossover monitoring, allowing developers to study efficiency, degradation and operating limits under controlled conditions. Within the hydrogen value chain, Scribner is therefore an R&D and validation equipment supplier supporting membrane, catalyst, MEA, stack and electrolyzer developers that require precise electrochemical testing rather than a producer of commercial hydrogen systems.
