Fuel Cell Humidifier - Donaldson

The Fuel Cell Humidifier from Donaldson is designed to protect fuel cell stacks by maintaining proper membrane hydration. It transfers water vapor from the moist exhaust stream into the incoming cathode air, helping stabilize the operating conditions of the fuel cell system.
The humidifier is manufactured using expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) membrane as the base material. Donaldson’s Tetratex® ePTFE membrane is engineered for high vapor permeance and effective gas separation, enabling efficient humidity transfer while maintaining system performance.
By keeping the PEM membrane properly hydrated, the humidifier supports high proton conductivity and optimal electrochemical performance. The design also helps prevent both membrane dehydration and flooding while maintaining a low pressure drop for efficient system operation.
