  • The fuel cell test bench is designed for the operation of LT-PEM stacks with a power output of up to 5 kW and meets defined minimum requirements regarding size, functionality, and safety.
  • The maximum dimensions are 250 cm × 180 cm × 240 cm.
  • It features comprehensive gas, pressure, and temperature control with precise humidification, a cooling circuit, an electronic load, and PLC-based safety and control systems. A CVM system for monitoring the stack is integrated to measure at least 30 individual cell voltages.
  • The process gases (H₂, N₂, air) are supplied via mass flow controllers with shut-off valves and piping for operating pressures up to 7 bar(a) and flow rates between 2 and 200 nl/min. The anode and cathode have separate, adjustable pressure control (0–3 bar(g)).
  • An electronic load with CV, CC, CP, and CR control modes enables flexible load testing.
  • Gas humidifiers with precise dew point control (± 2 °C) and gas trace heating up to 130 °C ensure defined gas conditions.
  • The exhaust gas discharge is ATEX-compliant.
  • The integrated cooling circuit allows for both cooling and heating of the test specimen.
  • Additionally, analog inputs and outputs (4–20 mA, 0–10 V) are available. Control is handled via a control cabinet with a PLC and safety PLC, programmable in a high-level programming language (Admiral software), and enables the integration of third-party systems via interfaces such as Python.
  • All gas and cooling circuits are comprehensively equipped with temperature, pressure, and conductivity sensors.
  • Complete documentation and a high-performance test bench computer running Windows 11 round out the system.
