The MD-Series Gas Dryers from Perma Pure are monotube gas drying systems that use Nafion membrane tubing to selectively remove water vapor from gas samples while preserving other components (analytes). These dryers are capable of achieving dew points as low as –40 °C and are designed for precision moisture control in analytical and process applications. The system operates by passing the sample gas through the Nafion tubing while a dry purge gas flows outside the tubing in a countercurrent configuration. Due to the partial pressure gradient, water vapor permeates through the Nafion membrane into the purge gas stream, producing a dry sample gas output. The MD-Series is available in multiple configurations, including tubing outer diameters (0.050", 0.070", 0.110") and housing materials such as polypropylene, fluorocarbon, and stainless steel. Various end fitting sizes and coiled configurations are also available to meet application-specific requirements.

Perma Pure LLC Perma Pure LLC, a Halma Company headquartered in Lakewood, New Jersey (in business since 1978 with 100-500 US employees), developed the first Nafion(R) dryers over 25 years ago and manufactures components and devices designed to dry and humidify gas streams using Nafion (a DuPont copolymer highly selective in water removal), branching from analytical/laboratory drying applications into specialty humidifiers for medical gas humidification and humidifying hydrogen for fuel cells. The company's FC-Series Fuel Cell Humidifiers -- described as the industry standard offering unparalleled performance, reliability, and lifetime up to 20,000 hours -- provide consistent, repeatable humidification of air and hydrogen across specified flow ranges for portable, stationary, automotive, and aerospace fuel cell applications, featuring low pressure drop and requiring no power to operate, significantly reducing parasitic load on fuel cell systems, with the FC100 Series compact for portable systems up to 500W and FC600 Series suitable for gas-to-gas humidification systems up to 50kW. Perma Pure's tubular membrane humidifiers selectively transfer water and heat from fuel cell exhaust gases (or liquid water) into fuel cell inlet gases, compatible with Polymer Electrolyte Membrane (PEM) fuel cell systems, with the company's Nafion tubing technology enabling water transport through the membrane wall via a perevaporation process driven by humidity gradients between inside and outside the tubing -- even processing samples containing high concentrations of very corrosive gases like hydrogen fluoride or hydrogen chloride. Offering the FC-Series Humidity Exchangers with flow rates from 10 lpm to 10,000 lpm and providing intelligent product numbering for various sizes, lengths, materials, and port configurations, Perma Pure continues supplying essential humidification technology critical to maintaining proper membrane hydration and performance in PEM fuel cell systems worldwide.
