Platinum-Based Fuel Cell Catalysts

  • This platinum-based catalyst series is engineered for proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) cathode applications. The portfolio covers C700 (Pt/C on partially graphitized carbon), C700M (Pt/C on mesoporous carbon) and C800M (PtCo/C on mesoporous carbon), enabling customers to select catalyst systems according to activity, durability, support structure and precious-metal utilization requirements.
  • Through rational carbon-support design and controlled nanoparticle dispersion, the catalysts provide a balanced combination of electrochemically active surface area, oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) kinetics and durability under dynamic potential operation. The series supports both performance-driven MEA development and cost-oriented scale-up, while allowing Pt loading customization for different electrode designs.

Key features

  • Engineered Carbon Supports: Partially graphitized carbon improves structural stability, while mesoporous carbon enhances mass transport and nanoparticle accessibility.
  • Uniform Pt/PtCo Nanoparticle Dispersion: Pt-based nanoparticles are homogeneously distributed on carbon supports, with typical particle sizes of 3.2 ± 0.5 nm for C700/C700M and 4.0 ± 0.5 nm for C800M.
  • Durability under Dynamic Operation: After cathode electrocatalyst durability testing (0.6 V/3 s to 0.95 V/3 s, 30k cycles), MA and ECSA loss are controlled within ≤30%.
  • Process Scalability and Customization: Single-batch capacity ≥100 g and adjustable Pt loading support catalyst screening, MEA validation and scale-up manufacturing.
