AFPT GmbH

AFPT GmbH is a German company specializing in laser-assisted automated tape/tube winding (LATW/LATP) for manufacturing thermoplastic composite structures. It applies this technology to produce lightweight, high-strength vessels for high-pressure and cryogenic hydrogen storage, including a cost-effective composite tank for liquid hydrogen developed under the LeiWaCo research project. AFPT's automated, laser-welded manufacturing process is designed to meet the reliability and safety standards required for hydrogen tanks while enabling higher-volume production. The company also co-founded the Digital Composites Factory joint venture to expand thermoplastic composite manufacturing capacity for sectors including hydrogen and aerospace.
