Hydrogen Purification Unit 40 - 200 Nm³/h (HPU 200)

  • The ReiCat hydrogen purification system is a turnkey, frame-mounted solution for fluctuating hydrogen flow rates between 40 and 200 Nm³/h.
  • The system combines a DeOxo unit for oxygen reduction with two alternating adsorbers for drying via temperature-swing adsorption (TSA).
  • Thanks to a closed regeneration system, the plant achieves a hydrogen purity of 99.999% (5.0) with zero gas loss.

Hydrogen Purification Unit 40 - 200 Nm³/h (HPU 200)

  • The ReiCat hydrogen purification system is an advanced system for purifying hydrogen gas to a purity level of 99.999% (5.0).
  • It is designed for an inlet pressure of approximately 30 bar(g) and processes flow rates ranging from 40 to 200 Nm³/h.
  • The system is designed as a turnkey, frame-mounted solution, enabling easy on-site commissioning.
  • Furthermore, the system is suitable for indoor installation and complies with ATEX Zone 2 regulations.

Process Description

  • The purification process begins by passing the hydrogen gas through a catalytic reactor to reduce the oxygen content.
  • Following this catalytic purification step, the process gas is cooled to approximately 10 °C, and the resulting condensate is efficiently separated from the gas in a demister.
  • The subsequent drying process uses two adsorbers connected in parallel to ensure continuous operation.
  • When operating using temperature-swing adsorption, the standard cycle time at 30 bar(g) is 24 hours, consisting of 12 hours of heating and 4 hours of cooling.

Technology with No Gas Loss

  • A key technological advantage of this system is the closed regeneration system.
  • A separate pump circulates approximately 6 Nm³/h of regeneration gas through the system, completely preventing hydrogen losses and thus ensuring no gas loss occurs.

Key Specifications and Benefits

  • Guaranteed Purity: The unit reduces oxygen contamination to ≤ 2 ppm(v) and moisture to ≤ 5 ppm(v), achieving a dew point of -43°C at 30 bar(g).
  • High Efficiency: The system is designed for low energy consumption and requires only approximately 7 Wh/Nm³.
  • More Robust Catalyst: ReiCat’s proprietary catalyst technology offers high tolerance to potassium hydroxide (KOH), with levels of up to 10 mg/Nm³ in the catalyst.
  • Durability: The components ensure a long service life that far exceeds the industry standard of 20 to 25 years.
  • Control system: The cleaning process is fully automated and controlled by a Siemens S7-1500 PLC.
